14 Day UGANDA safari

Itinerary Overview

Two weeks. One lifetime of memories. This is not a rush. It’s a rhythm the slow unfolding of Africa’s pearl. You’ll trek with chimpanzees, stand before the roaring Nile, search for tree-climbing lions, lock eyes with mountain gorillas, paddle through emerald lakes, and sleep under stars in one of the continent’s last true wildernesses. By the end, you won’t just say you saw Uganda. You’ll feel it in your bones.

DAY 1

Arrival → The First Breath
You land at Entebbe International Airport. Your Agaca Tours guide is waiting  warm smile, firm handshake. A short transfer to your lakeside hotel. The evening air is soft with equatorial perfume. Tomorrow, the adventure begins.

DAY 2

Entebbe → Murchison Falls; The Nile’s Roar
After breakfast, you drive northwest to Murchison Falls National Park. The road winds through sugarcane plantations and traditional villages. By afternoon, you arrive. A quick game drive on the way to your lodge maybe elephants, maybe giraffes. Tonight, sleep to the distant rumble of the falls.

DAY 3

Murchison Falls → Thunder and Giants
Dawn game drive across the savannah. Lions lounging under acacias, buffalos marching to water. Then, the highlight: a boat cruise to the base of the falls. The Nile squeezes through a seven-meter gap and explodes with a roar you feel in your chest. Rainbows dance in the spray. Afternoon at leisure or climb to the top of the falls for a different perspective. Pure power.

DAY 4

Murchison → Kibale – Into the Primate Capital
Drive south through the Albertine Rift. The landscape turns green, then greener. By late afternoon, you reach Kibale Forest National Park – home to 13 primate species. Your lodge sits at the forest edge. Listen carefully. Chimps are calling.

DAY 5

Kibale → Your First Heart-to-Heart
After an early breakfast, you trek into the ancient rainforest. Your guide stops, tilts his head. Then you hear it the rising, screaming pant hoot of chimpanzees. You push through vines and ferns. And there they are: mothers grooming, youngsters swinging, a dominant male barking at the canopy. One unforgettable hour. Later, visit Bigodi Wetlands  a community-run sanctuary where every footstep supports local families.

DAY 6

Kibale → Queen Elizabeth; The Great Rift Valley
A short drive south to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Afternoon game drive across the Kasenyi Plains elephants, hyenas, warthogs. But the real magic waits. You board a sunset boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. Hippos grunt inches away. Buffalos drink on the shoreline. The sun sinks like a gold coin into the savannah. Pure peace.

DAY 7

Queen Elizabeth → Lions in Fig Trees
Wake before dawn. Drive to the Ishasha sector, famous for its tree-climbing lions. Scan the giant fig trees. There a tawny paw dangling, a sleepy mane resting on a branch. A rare and precious sight. Return to the lodge for lunch. Afternoon at leisure or another game drive. Tonight, the savannah sings you to sleep.

DAY 8

Queen Elizabeth → Bwindi; The Mist Approaches
You drive south through the Ishasha sector again (one more lion check!) then climb into the Kigezi Highlands  the “Switzerland of Africa.” Terraced hills, misty valleys. By afternoon, you arrive at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Your lodge hugs the forest edge. Tomorrow, everything changes.

DAY 9

Bwindi → The Day You Meet a Mountain Gorilla
This is the day. Wake early your heart already pounding. After briefing, you trek into the impenetrable forest. The trail could be two hours or five but every step builds the story. Your ranger parts the vines. A silverback turns and looks into your eyes. For one sacred hour, you share their world. No words prepare you. You return walking on air. (Optional: Batwa community encounter in the afternoon; the forest’s first people share their songs and sorrows.)

DAY 10

Bwindi → Lake Bunyonyi; Serenity and Reflection
A short drive to Lake Bunyonyi the deepest lake in Uganda, dotted with 29 emerald islands. This is where gorilla adrenaline meets quiet peace. Rent a dugout canoe, visit an island village, or simply sit on your lodge deck and watch the mist lift. Tonight, the only sound is lapping water and distant birdsong.

DAY 11

Lake Bunyonyi → Lake Mburo; Zebras at Dusk
Drive northeast to Lake Mburo National Park compact, beautiful, and often overlooked. But you know better. In late afternoon, join a walking safari your feet on African soil, coming within meters of zebras and elands. After dinner, a night game drive. Spotlights catch glowing eyes: hyenas, bushbabies, perhaps a leopard. You sleep to the grunt of hippos.

DAY 12

Lake Mburo → Jinja; The Source of Life
After breakfast, drive to Jinja the adventure capital of East Africa. But first, a stop at the Source of the Nile. Stand at the spot where the world’s longest river begins its 6,650-kilometer journey to the Mediterranean. Poetic. Powerful. You can also opt for white-water rafting or a gentle boat ride your choice.

DAY 13

Jinja → Sipi Falls; Three Cascades
Drive east to the slopes of Mount Elgon. Sipi Falls is actually three stunning waterfalls tumbling over cliffs. You hike to the highest fall 100 meters of spray and thunder. After, a local coffee tour. You’ll roast, grind, and taste some of Uganda’s best arabica, learning the traditions that bind community to land. Overnight at a lodge with views that steal your breath.

DAY 14

Sipi Falls → Entebbe; The Long Goodbye
One last African sunrise behind the falls. After breakfast, you drive back to Entebbe. The hills roll past, but your mind is still in that misty forest, on that quiet lake, under that starry sky. At the airport, your guide hugs you goodbye. You carry silverback eyes and chimpanzee calls in your chest. And you already know: this was not a trip. This was a homecoming.
