DAY 1
Arrival → The First Breath of Uganda
You land at Entebbe International Airport. Your Agaca Tours guide is waiting with a warm smile and a sign. A short transfer to your hotel near the lake. Feel the balmy air, listen to the strange and beautiful bird calls. Tomorrow, the wild calls louder.
DAY 2
Entebbe → Kibale Forest; Into the Primate Kingdom
An early morning drive west, through lush countryside and roadside villages where children wave as if you’re family. By afternoon, you arrive in Kibale Forest National Park; the primate capital of the world. Settle into your lodge, the forest murmuring just beyond your door.
DAY 3
Kibale Forest → Your First Heart-to-Heart
After breakfast, you trek into the ancient rainforest. Your guide stops, listens. Then you hear it: the rising, crescendo call of chimpanzees. You push through vines and ferns, and suddenly they’re there grooming, playing, swinging. For one unforgettable hour, you share their world. Later, visit Bigodi Wetlands, a community run sanctuary where every step supports local families.
DAY 4
Kibale → Bwindi (via Queen Elizabeth); Lions in Fig Trees
You wind south into Queen Elizabeth National Park. But not for a long stay just a morning detour into the Ishasha sector, famous for its tree-climbing lions. Scan the giant fig trees. There a tawny paw dangling, a sleepy mane resting on a branch. A rare and precious sight. Then you continue to Bwindi, the misty home of gorillas. Tonight, your heart races with anticipation.
DAY 5
Bwindi → The Day You Meet a Mountain Gorilla
This is it. The trek begins early. A ranger leads you into the impenetrable forest thick vines, steep slopes, the smell of damp earth. Then the radio crackles. Your guide whispers, “They’re close.” You part the leaves. A silverback turns, looks into your eyes, and everything else falls away. One hour of pure, humbling, life-changing magic. You return to your lodge walking on air.
DAY 6
Lake Mburo → Hippos and Night Stars
A scenic drive northeast to Lake Mburo National Park compact, beautiful, and often overlooked. But you know better. In the late afternoon, you join a walking safari, coming within meters of zebras and elands. Then as darkness falls, a night game drive. The spotlight catches glowing eyes a hyena, a bushbaby, a leopard perhaps. You sleep to the grunt of hippos just outside your tent.
DAY 7
Lake Mburo → Entebbe; The Journey Home
One last African sunrise over the water. After breakfast, you drive back to Entebbe, stopping for lunch and one final chance to buy a carving, to trade a smile, to breathe it all in. At the airport, your guide hugs you goodbye. You carry gorilla eyes and chimpanzee calls in your chest and you already know you’ll be back.
